Early Saver:
Carnival developed the early saver program as a means to get cruisers to commit early by offering up to 20% off when booking in advance (at least 5 months out for 7 day & longer, 3 months or more for shorter cruises) and price protection if they are willing to put up a non-refundable deposit. Carnival had no idea how customers would respond, but it turns out the non-refundable deposit did not scare them off at all; in fact, this is by far and away our most popular promotion. The only downside is…..the deposit is non-refundable.
Obviously this program is ideal for those who plan ahead…think families. As a parent, you have to work around school schedules and of course when the kids are out (holidays, summer, spring break) the prices are higher and you are typically paying for at least 3 or 4 guests, thus more money out of pocket. A 20% discount sounds very appealing!
All about Pack and Go:
With Pack and Go, think just the opposite! This program is a tactical means of filling close-in space and is intended for those consumers looking for “last minute deals,” you know the ones! There are limited sailings offered each week and can only be booked in a 72 hour window, from Wednesday-Friday online with full payment. Think seniors or retirees! Since these sailings are only offered close-in, these customers have to be able to go soon and make quick decisions based on time and money which is appealing to those ready to go at a moment’s notice when there are deals to be had.
