Dress Codes on Cruises
Lot’s of folks who cruise from Texas on a Texas Cruise we are famous for here at Texas Cruise Company often worry about what to wear. Well, at least some of the ladies worry about what to wear. I never worried about it too much. For
some folks in Texas, a clean starched pair of Wranglers and a dress shirt and possibly a nice dress jacket is about as dressed up as we get. And you know what, that is fine for formal nights these days.
Others will want to bring a suit and tie and that is also good. A few years ago we went on a 14 day cruise and Ramona bought me a Tuxedo to wear on formal nights. Yes, it felt a little silly for this Texan, but there were others on the cruise who wore a Tux and I really didn’t look out of place, even if I did feel out of place.
The ladies always look nice on formal nights in a dressy cocktail dress. Some dress more formally than that, but ladies just seem to intuitively know what to wear and look appropriate.
If there is any advice I can give on dress codes on a cruise, it is just don’t show up in the formal dining room for the evening meal in a swimsuit or shorts. It is frowned on and just doesn’t look too cool. A sports jacket for the men and a nice dress for the ladies is almost always the way to go. Keep in mind that one purpose of having a formal night is to let the ladies dress up a little and to take some really good photographs of you and your significant other in a formal setting. They have photographers set up on formal nights just for that purpose and they always do a really good job with the photos.
Also, you can look over to your right and read my posting in the “Important Details” category and get a complete rundown on Cruise Dress Code and what to wear while on your cruise.
Bottom line: Go out and enjoy your Texas Cruise on Royal Caribbean’s Voyager of the Seas or the Carnival Conquest or Carnival Ecstasy. Both cruise lines have a cruise from Galveston that you will enjoy. Don’t let a fear of dress codes scare you off, times have changed in the past few years and it’s more informal than formal.
Be sure to download our eBook, Cruise The Caribbean. It gives all the details of a Cruise from Galveston and it is an instant free download.
