Texas Cruise to Cozumel Country Club
Yep, we have country clubs all over Texas, and we have a few horny toads and rattlesnakes, but none that I have visited have big lizards running all over the place. Yes, they are a lot bigger’n your average horny toad back home. After boarding our last Texas Cruise aboard the Carnival Conquest, we visited Jamaica, Grand Cayman, and then Cozumel. I had planned a golf outing at Cozumel Country Club and was looking forward to it all cruise long.
Yes, we enjoyed Jamaica, but it is actually not one of our favorite spots. If we went and spent the day at one of the resorts it might have been better, but all that being said, Jamaica has a ways to go to mend a lot of fences with cruisers and visitors in general in my opinion. Yes, we think Jamaica is beautiful and we know authorities are working hard to repair a tarnished image. We wish them every success. We have some great resorts and specific places to visit in Jamaica we love. One of those favorite spots is Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville at Negril beach.
Grand Cayman on the other hand, has beaches that were made for walking on. After growing up in Texas and being only familiar with Texas beaches, I was amazed that sand could be so soft and so powdery, smooth, and inviting to the toes. Yes, inviting to the toes. We also enjoyed a nice trip to Hell, which is a touristy spot with an intriguing name. I just wanted to go there and brag that I had been to Hell and got out. We sent a few postcards from that infernal place and left. The turtle farms were also interesting, and if shopping is your thing, it is a good warm up for Cozumel. Lot’s of Texas Timex places there (Rolex).
Finally the Texas Cruise got to Cozumel and the Carnival Conquest golf Pro led the way to the course. I took my own clubs and it was no problem whatsoever. They do rent clubs….so, you don’t have to take your own. There were five of us in my group, but Ramona was just riding with me. The other guys were from Mississippi. Heck of a bunch of good guys enjoying their Texas Cruise out of Galveston. The Carnival Golf Pro played along with us and of course the weather was beautiful.
It was the Iguanas all over the course that we were fascinated by. They were everywhere. Ramona was able to take lots of pictures of the big lizards and they didn’t bother us at all. I did feel compelled to ‘goose’ Ramona when she was intently taking a picture of one very close by. It was too much to resist.
Here’s a video of Golf at Cozumel Country club….pretty funny stuff
