There were new roofs going up on all the homes and businesses that needed them, the major hotels were back in business big time, and that includes Harbor House, The Tremont, and The Hotel Galvez, one of my all time favorites. It’s located just across the street from the Gulf and we walked to the beach to enjoy a little salt water swimming….well mostly wading.

ve also stayed at Moody Gardens and enjoyed a very educational tour of the aquarium and ecosystem they have there. They have trained marine biologists on staff and fantastic marine based exhibits. Even penguins! And there are many more hotels along the seawall that are available to you as cruisers….or just vacationers.
The Carnival Conquest and the Carnival Ecstasy are two of Carnival’s best ships and the Ecstasy is about to undergo a multi-million dollar do-over that will really make it snazzy for you Texas Cruisers. Galveston is located right in the middle of the USA and is easy to get to.
