It’s true!
I really hurt myself and he just laughed.
Let me tell you the story. Yes, we booked our own cruise through Texas Cruise Company on the Carnival Conquest. It was a 7 day cruise down to Jamaica, Grand Cayman, and Cozumel. We just love the Carnival Conquest and the itineraries offered are right down our ally.
Sightseeing in Jamaica, mon.
Shopping in Grand Cayman.
And golf at Cozumel Country Club with the Carnival Golf pro right there with us. It just doesn’t get much better than that. Couple all that with the shows and the food and the clear water, and the entertainment, and the food……get the picture?
So back to my injury. It was dinner and our friends and I were looking forward to lobster night. Ramona and I had our photos taken in ‘dress’ clothes and we were seated for dinner.
The first thing I ordered was a nice Prime Rib. You can have steak every night if you
want. Just tell the waiter and enjoy the anticipation. So, I got started with that and enjoyed it. About halfway through, the waiter brought out lobster. He brought one for me also. I had forgotten it was lobster night.
Delicious. That was really good. Prime Rib and lobster. Who could ask for much more than that?
Then he asked if I wanted another lobster. I said yes, I did want another. So there it was, Prime Rib and two lobsters.
The waiters on Carnival seem to be able to anticipate your mood and even your appetite. He knew after the first night’s meal that I liked a couple of scoops of ice cream for dessert. I didn’t even have to order it, he just remembered and brought it out.
There was much revelry at the evening meal. The Headwaiter was quite entertaining. He looked like Telly Savalas, sounded like The Terminator, and sang like Frank Sinatra. He crooned away and entertained us and it wasn’t long before the waiters joined in.
That was a night of memories.
But back to the injury. The waiter eyed me up and down and asked if I could handle one more lobster. I had to think about it for a minute. Let’s recap all this. I started off with Prime Rib. He brought lobster #1 and later lobster #2. We sang a little and I was feeling pretty good.
Then he brought out lobster #3. I guess he decided I needed it.
That was the one that hurt me. After a fantastic dinner experience, the food, the singing, the good times, we limped back to our stateroom and fell on the bed. I was suffering….in a good way.
I had my fill of lobster and have not had anything as good since.
The waiter….he just laughed when he brought out the ice cream that finished out my evening’s meal. He laughed and I will remember that particular meal on that particular cruise all my days. No, I probably won’t try 3 lobsters ever again, but it was a night to remember.
